Auto AC question

On my 2003 MCS with Auto AC. It's 45F outside and I have the temp set to 70F. When I press the auto button, it turns on the AC light as well. It's not humid (around 20% humidity), so there's no need to dry out the air. Why is it doing this?
is the compressor on? i think the LED is on, but the compressor only
cranks when you hit the defrost or the RH inside the car is high.
i noticed that too and was wondering. i just hit Auto and then hit
the AC button to turn it off unless it's raining/snowing outside. :smile:
