OEM Horn

2005 MCS. My drivers side horn no longer works. The passenger side still works. I assume that the horn itself died. I'd like to replace it with the OEM Mini horn. Over at RealOEM.com , they show a high pitch horn and a low pitch horn. Anyone know which one is the driver's side horn?

Thanks for your insight.
Matt

Gosh, you've inspired me to go out and beep the horn! I've had my MINI more than a month and I haven't heard the horn yet!

I'd almost forgotten there was a horn. I've only used it twice in 8 years.

Most vehicles have two separate horns to create a toned sound. A single horn sounds really cheezy.

Can someone do me a favor? Have someone honk the horn on your 03-06 Mini while you listen near the passenger side headlight. Then repeat near the driver side headlight. Can you tell me which side is the high pitch horn and which side is the low pitch horn? One of mine is broken and I don't know which one to order. Thanks very much!

You can tell the parts guy at mini what side you need and he will know.

I see these horns dead all the time. We even keep them in stock. Let me know which one you need Dr or pass side. I marked them when I got them in last time.

I would gladly do so, but I disconnected the OEM dual horns long time ago. Sounded too much like a Chevy, or is that Chevrolet ? They are mounted behind the front parking/directional light housings.

Did a DIY how to here on installing compact Italian air horns from Griots Garage Sounds lots better

Lo is on the passenger side, Hi is on the driver's side. Don't expect the parts people to know which one is which.

I agree, but if you tell them what side you want, they will give you the correct one. *if they look at the parts diagram.

The diagram doesn't show left or right, just a pic of one horn.

It's true the diagram only shows one horn, but the parts list below shows two part numbers: 61 33 7 193 996 (low pitch) and 61 33 7 193 997 (high pitch). According to http://www.penskeparts.com/, the price of each is $36.63, and this is for up to an 08/06 model.
