Scangauge problem
Scangauge problem
I just bought a ScangaugeII Ver 3.17 n Xgauge from Singapore. I connected it to my OBD2 port but it kept on displaying CONNECTING... n after 75 seconds, it automatically shut down itself. I've tried to force all of the mode (ISO,PWM,CAN...,KW...) but the condition persist. My mini is a Manual 2004 RHD Mini Cooper S loaded with a Unichip (Piggyback) Version B, BMC air filter, ALTA coilpack package (MSD coilpack + Spark Plug wire + Brisk Spark Plugs), 15% ALTA s/c Pulley and ALTA Oil Catch Can. I already contacted scangauge representative and they said that mine is not compatible since it is not produced for US market.
I've used it on several other cars such as Mazda3, Ford Mondeo and Toyota Vios and all three are working. i've also brought my Mini to a workshop and they scanned it with a LAUNCH OBD reader and it works. Is there any suggestion other than my Mini is not compatible with the Scangauge?
Thanks

Are your sure it's seated tightly and evenly in the OBDII port and not loose? That and when needing a jumpstart levels of low voltage are the only times I've gotten the connecting..... message for any significant amount of time.
Yes, it's seated properly and evenly. which mode should i forced it to? regarding battery, currently my car's battery is displaying 12.2V with the ignition on and about 13.1V when the car is on start mode (accessed through ecu test 9.0 which show the car's voltage). The current problem i faced is P1627 Alternator Load Input High (scanned using LAUNCH OBD READER). Do you think i need to charge the battery? or use a voltage stabilizer?
Thanks
Thanks
I would suspect it might be related to the uni-chip...
Just a guess, but since the piggyback is sending out signals to make the computer think something else is going on to trick it into allowing more power to be made, the signals the scanguage could be getting is out of limits....
Then again it could be smart enough to read the cars software version, and seen a non supported version...
I would guess if a standard ODBII reader works, this is not the case, but I guess anything is possible. Sometimes buying "gray-market" items are a $$, but it does have risks...sounds like you might have gotten burnt.

so in your opinion what should i do? should i uninstall the unichip? i've planned to uninstall it also to ensure that my endless P1627 code disappear... n yes.. i wonder why other coder reader tools can be use to read my ecu but the scangauge can't...
I am chipped and Scanguage works AOK :)

I am chipped, Scanguage II works perfectly.
I guess it should work fine with the piggyback.....
The confusing thing is a regular obd2 works...I am thinking the scanguage might be bad.....ship it back to Singapore!!
