Hey all, I am a new R53 owner ('03 MCS w/ 80k miles). Original clutch and flywheel as far as I know.

1st issue:
When starting my car cold with the clutch out in neutral there is an engine rattle or clatter sound. Goes away as soon as I put the clutch in.

2nd issue:
Sounds like the common complaint of clutch squeal when pulling away from a stop in 1st gear. Happens most when engine is cold, but has become more frequent in the last month. No problems shifting, I am hearing this noise several times a day. Is this a glazed flywheel?

Are these issues related? Anything to be concerned about? If so what is the fix?

Thanks for the help. I am really loving my R53, but want to address these issues before any mods or autocross events.

 

Bump. The clutch noise is being heard less lately in all the warm, dry weather we are having.
