2006 cooper s problems....

Hi, i posted this in the 1st gear section but i think its more appropriated here, i am starting to look for a cooper s for my next car....

Im taking infos on the forum before selling my current car, unfortunately my budget will probably allow me to buy a 1st gen only, and it begins to scare me a little with all those reliability problems.....

Do the 2006 seems to have less troubles than the first productions years??

I would really like to get one but my wife will probably make a lot of mileage on it cause she works far from home and i dont want to get her in trouble with this car....

I know im on a MINI forum but i would like to have your advice!

Thanks!

Welcome! I would definitely say that the 06's do have less issues than the 02-03's. Any MINI you purchase try and get the full vehicle history!

Thanks Jarid! I will!

Do you know how bad is the fuel economy vs the turbocharged versions, i need to get some more MPG than my current WRX that i love to death....I will share this car with my wife and she cant afford running the WRX to go to work so i may sell it and get a cooper S.....

My 06 MINI averages between 26 & 30 MPG. I'm pretty happy with that. Our 05 Forester XT is 17 & 26 MPG. Now the MINI is not going to go in the snow like a Scooby, but with 4 proper snow tires it does fine.

My 06 S GP gets roughly 21-25mpg. I do drive it like I have ice cream melting in the BOOT

Hahahaha! Thanks for the infos!

I will definately find a "S" availlable somewhere and take a test drive this weekend!

This car seems so fun to ride!

Find a local MINI club in your area and see if you could tag along for a rally!

a 2006 MCS will not be as reliable as a Honda, but it's the best year for the MINI, period. You'll love the car.
