Idler pulley

Have been running my Mini with the new ATI vibration damper. Installed by the dealer shop.

Noticed a high pitched sound coming from the pulleys.

Well been driving it for about a month and last night the dreadful thing happen again.

I delivered a pizza and as I was leaving I noticed there was no power steering. Immediately I looked at the temp. gauge and it was at the max temperature.

Managed to drive it back to the "hut". Had it towed back home. This morning took a look and the belt was all shredded up.

No problem, I started to take the pieces out and noticed the idler pulley wasn't looking right when I started to turn it, it was wobbly and the bearings were coming out.

I took off the idler pulley pretty easy and managed to lock the belt tensioner in place.

Wouldn't you know it no idler pulley available on this island need to order online looking at 3 to 4 days down time.

Question, I am having trouble removing all the busted belt pieces from the AC pulley, would it be okay to just cut what is sticking out and leave what is tangled inside? I am thinking eventually it will just fall out.

Installation of idler pulley, any special instructions or is it a simple installation?
