Bonnet Release Cable
Bonnet Release Cable
'02 MCS with 90K miles, and the bonnet release is a mess.
The driver's side works fine, the passenger side cable seems to have stretched so that it won't unlock the latch. It's still attached to the little pull handle, but it's obviously too long to release the latch though.
I ordered a replacement bowden cable and it's all one assembly, since the cables are joined together where they enter through the firewall. However, where they enter the firewall, it looks like it's sealed in with some sort of epoxy, black rubber stuff. Also the drivers side cable disappears behind, and re-appears later.
So .... has anyone replaced these cables? Any insights to share?

i have had this same problem, the easy fix is first get the bonnet open and install a crimp betwene the lug on the end of the cable and the latch to take up the slack, probably a new cable will also stretch and much more hassle to install.
