Mini Emblem missing on my steering wheel

My Mini S is missing the emblem on the center of the steering wheel.

The Mini parts person told me that you have to purchase the whole center
cap that includes the air bag.

I'm not interested in going that route ; I just want to replace the missing
Mini emblem.

Does anyone know where I may come across this item ?

It's not the same size that is on the Boot or Bonnett.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Is your wheel a 2 spoke or a 3 spoke? The emblems are different.

In either case, you might find a salvaged part in the Marketplace or some other local salvage yard.

I know there are a few vendors that might sell sticker to go over the emblem, but that means that you'd need the emblem there in the first place.

Actually, I purchased an airbag cover that was missing the emblem, but used one of the aesthetic creations domed stickers to put in its place. Honestly, it looked just fine. You may want to use a little bit of super glue to hold it down though.

Is it safe to pry off my damaged decal and replace it with one of these stickers?

MiniKar - let us know how it looks when done. I have a dented emblem from using the horn but Mini won't replace it. Looking for a solution.

I installed the Aesthetic Creations small MINI steering wheel wing--a thick cushiony plastic.

(I should have painted the remnants of the metal posts before attaching the decal.)

It is better than what I had there.

However the summer heat did cause the decal to fall from its steering wheel placement. The use of a superglue probably would have prevented this.

Doesn't look like a perfect fit ..... Get the larger one and use 3M double sided trim tape for application and all of the old area will be covered. The 3M trim tape will hold exceptionally well. Use a Sharpie to blacken all the outside edges of the trim tape before you place it.

Man, am I glad I found this thread. Last night I noticed that my steering wheel emblem was dented, and figure that someone had to have tried to pry it off. B@$tards! That'll teach me to park around town & leave my windows down. Anyway, just ordered the large domed emblem from Aesthetic Creations & hope that some double-sided tape will hold it down & take care of things.

Will post some pics when I'm done.

Hi,

I believe I may be the one that posted this thread ???

Anyway, I used the smaller on the Mini emblems, and it almost fits like the stock one. I did remove some of the existing or remaining metal from the OEM that was left.

I used some super glue on the very ends to hold the wings in place; careful not to get the glue on the fingers like I did cause it ruins the emblem really fast.

Good luck ! I believe mine and hopefully yours look better than the OEM part !!!!!

I'm glad yours turned out well. My emblem is still in place, just dented pretty badly, but not totally unattached. I talked to Mike @ AC, and according to him the large sticker he's sending will fit over the original. I'm gonna try to find some 3M trim tape to fasten it. We'll see how it turns out.

I was really bummed when I saw the damage, felt bad, like my car had been violated! Hopefully this'll make it all better.

Sticker from Aesthetic Creations. Mine turned out really well! Looks as though it belongs there.

Another Solution to Steering Wheel Emblem Issues

I ran across this thread after purchasing a 2003 MINI with the emblem in the steering wheel totally destroyed by some sort of chemical (a cleaner / polish??) the previous owner had used that had ruined the emblem. With Aesthetic Creations no longer an option, it took a while, but I found this solution from Out Motoring:

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...el_insert.html

I know the whole British / Union Jack thing with the heritage gave me the other option shown there, but just couldn't bring myself to apply that to this mostly-German car, and bought the flag option...

I chose to install it 90 degrees from the way they showed it online (looked better to me).

The report card...waaaaay cheaper than MINI's solution of a new steering wheel, but. The 'but' is based on two items. First, the white color doesn't match the white on the MINI checkered flag accessories, which is a much whiter white. Second, my particular example arrived with a divot in one of the white enamel squares. The divot didn't appear to be shipping damage, but rather an imperfection from when the glass was melted onto the metal back....

Overall, though, this piece dramatically changed the view from the driver's seat, and was definitely a worthwhile purchase in my opinion.

My 2-spoke looked a bit tired after a decade. Santa just granted my wish to go old school & flexible. No more of that ugly logo & airbag module to greet me everyday! Merry Christmas!

Hmmmm

I just tried the link I had, and it worked for me, showing both options in stock and ready to be added to a cart:

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...el_insert.html

Here's a page dump:

If you can't get the link to work from here, try going to outmotoring.com and putting "SKU128805" in the search box.

I wish you good fortune!

Sorry but I should have been more clear... this is for the 3-spoke steering wheel. 2006 MCS.
