I had the same thing happen to me twice early on when I had the car, at around 5 k miles. Total blank, no lights on Auto AC control, no response to any buttons. I call it the microsoft syndrome: reboot (turn engine off and back on again) and all is fine. Since then, it has not happened and I now have 25 k miles on my 03 MCS.

I'd say that unless it happens again, don't worry about it. It's the modern cars with all their electronics, a little too much in my taste (and I do a lot of work with electronics).

Have you heard about the new E class Mercedes, some have side bolsters in the seats that inflate and deflate on one side at a time, depending on how you corner. On a car with that many electro-gizmos, something is bound to go wrong sooner or later. I can't wait for the headline on someone whom the seat won't release, because both side bolsters are overinflated!

Seriously, unless it happens repeatedly, I wouldn't worry about it, just the quirkyness of the MINI's electrical system.

M.

Do you have satalite radio? I've had that happen to me before. Turns out that my satalite reciver was sending bad info to the dash computer. Messed up the a/c, the radio, turn signals, lights, steering wheel, all sorts of goodness. If you don't have the satalite package, I have the factory sirius by the way, Tell the dealer to check the dash computer.

I was at the dealer today (Motor City MINI) and the new service manager stated he had seen that problem and he will replace the heating controller?..Also, they just received the Ver #36 today,,Making appointment to have it flashed so it might cure the "stumble".. Also,,talked to the General Manager of the dealership and he asked me what would I want in service improvements as he was meeting with MINI folks next week,, I stated an iron clad "loaner policy"for any service like they do for their BMW folks,,He stated come Jan he will have 3 or 4 mini's to loan out..(I don't need a Mini, but just want "wheels to get me to work..as I am 45 miles from dealer!..Sounds promising...Its about time!!! :???:
