electrical gremlins redux

Im just about to make my last payment on Obie. He's five years old. During the last few weeks, he's been acting a bit strangely.

It started when the dash clock would turn off every few days. Of course, I'd reset it, and a few days later, it'd go off again.

Then, I'd find the sunroof open a hair. Then, the windows wouldnt go up into seal position when I close the door. Locking the doors manually with the key wouldmake the window(s) go up. Then, the windows would roll down about a quarter of an inch several minutes after I leave the car, when I know I rolled them up all the way.

So I had the car diagnosed and was told that the body control module was fine, but the sunroof control module was going crazy. The sunroof continues to work fine, though, and only opened once, a little, by itself.

I was told that at this point, if the clock and window weirdness continued, that my original 5-year-old battery was the likely culprit, although the car seems to start and run fine. Everyone I talk to tells me that 5 years is very good for one of these, or any vehicle, battery. And that if the battery is old and weak, that when the car goes into sleep mode, that the stuff that depends on the battery doesnt get what they need, resulting in, for instance, no clock upon start-up, which is my situation.

So, what do you guys think? Based on whats happened, is the battery the next (first?) logical possible solution? I dont mind spending some money, but I hate spending money for nothing.

Why not swing by your local auto store and get your battery tested? They usually do it for free.

Yeah, that sounds like the battery is getting weak.
