help!...i have a 2002 MINI Cooper with a burned out fog light..i can get my hand on it after bending the fender liner back..but i can`t get it to budge..is there a trick to get the thing loose?..does it turn,then pull out?..i can`t get any movement..i`m afraid if i keep twisting it,i`ll end up breaking it..any tips?..tks,chris

 

You have to take off the tire, then remove about ten plastic and metal screws to remove the tirewell. I just did this on both sides for different reasons in the past week or so. Be careful not to strip out the plastic screws. There is a small slot provision to use a flat-head screwdriver to keep the outer ring from spinning around while you use a phillips head on the center portion.

In addition to the screws in the well, there is one that bolts to the front bottom edge of the front under-trim and one that bolts to the front bottom of the side stepping board. When you put the tirewell back, you have to tuck in the edge along the trim pieces around the tirewell edge.
