Hello all,

Wondering if anybody's had problems with their driving light going out, and whether there's an illustrated (preferably) guide out there.

I got in a minor "fender bender" - although it was more of a hood/grill crumpler, and shortly after, my driving light 'went out'. Haven't gotten to check the wiring or connections *yet*. But since it looks like its pretty crammed in there, it may be worth asking around so that I don't start taking things apart that shouldn't need/have to be.

Any wisdom anybody can spare would be greatly appreciated!

most driving lights I've played with have a small screw at the bottom of the ring around the lens. Removing that screw allows removal of the lens and all you'll find inside is the reflector bowl with the bulb mounted in it, and two wires connected to the back of the bulb. Pretty simple. Look for nicked wires causing a ground. Also trace the wires back from there to the fire wall....sounds like something got pinched causing aground.

 

There is a How To Section in the Modifications Section. Check there. Also check int eh Modifications Section as there is lots of info there about this type of item as it is more a mod than a stock problem at least IMHO.

 

Thanks all. i definitely got some investigative work ahead of me. If anybody stumbles upon any R56 service manual - please let me know! Does anybody know when they plan on releasing a complete manual for sale?

 

As this is BMW it is doubtful they will make one up for sale from the dealer.

Bentley is working on one but last I heard it was going to be Oct/Nov 2010 at the earliest.
