R50 Front Bumper chrome trim replacement Q

Folks,

I have a 2003 R50 Justacooper. The front bumper has two plastic-chrome trim pieces in either side of where the front plate resides. Some of the R50s came with body coloured trim, and aftermarket vendors are selling CF replacement pieces.

In any event, I purchased two such replacement OEM chrome pieces since the originals are severely pitted from road debris.

Each piece has appx. 6 plastic tabs that secure it to the front bumper. I cannot however, seem to get the original pieces off without risking damage to the bumper. Anyone have any experience/suggestions as to how I can replace these pieces? Surely this shouldn't be that hard!

Thanks in advance
Asif

Anyone?

I'm itching to clean up the front of the R50 what with the spring like weather we've been having as of late (Sorry to all you Easterners dealing with the snow)

Cheers
A

If you remove the bumper cover to access the tabs from the rear then you
will be able to pry each tab over the opening slot.

Cheers
