Hello all--
I have an '06 S with 25k miles. It has been gently driven but I seem to continue to put money into it. I now have a leaking rack and pinion issue. Does anyone have any ideas if Mini has made this an extended warranty item? The $1200 US cost to fix it seems like a big price! Are there any short cuts in fixing this issue?? Thanks!

Unfortunately the warranty is 36 mo or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. We have had the car for over 4 years. We had alignment problems last year which was causing us to eat tires and the dealership would not even give us an alignment under warranty. We do not have a dealership in town. It is 1 1/2 hours away so it is not easy to get warranty issues resolved.

 

Sorry but all US MINI's have a factory warranty of 4 yrs 50k, the 3/36 is only the maint. warranty. So check again it may be under warranty.

Unfortunatly, you are SOL. You might look for a used unit from an auto recycler.

 

Isn't there a place where they refurbish your rack & pinion? Anybody know???
