Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
I blew my back two speakers in my 06 MCS convertible, are they covered under warranty? Anybody have any experience replacing speakers? And how much they would cost. I also have to get my leaking engine mount fixed! Thanks
Stock speakers aren't very good anyway. You can get some decent, worlds better, no amp required, speakers for probably loads less than replacement factory speakers.
The car warranty is good until 4 years/50K miles but the dealer may claim that they were damaged from abuse (playing too loud), which won't be covered. If not covered, you can use this as an opportunity to ugrade to higher quality aftermarket speakers.
Sorry they can't not warranty a speaker cause you play it loud. Show me in the owners manual where it says not to play it loud or you'll blow the speaker. If it doesn't say that they HAVE to warranty it.

+1 - All stock system, right? The speakers should be designed to handle
full amp output all day long.

I'd imagine that is why they covered mine. It would be pretty stupid on the designers part to oversize the amp or undersize the speaker given the amount of stupidity that exists in the world.
