Blown Clutch!

My 03 mini just recently out of nowwhere blew its clutch. I havent taken it to any dealer but i have called and asked about it and they said it would be $3k or more to get it fixed. Is there anything that i can do to fix it for less or anything. Also i bought the car used and it wasnt directly from the mini dealership so im pretty sure this wont be able to fix under warranty but i would like to know if there are any other alternatives to getting it fixed. Any help would be appreciated- thanks

Pope, yeah, do what i did when i replaced my clutch. Find a good mechanic with experience on Mini/BMW and have him do the job on the side. I had my clutch job done for $1000, parts and labor included. The local Mini stealer wanted the same amount $3000+, not a chance! My mechanic has done several jobs for me such as the supercharger pulley install, brake job etc etc, so i trust him. Good luck! Sometime your local Mini club can recommend a good mechanic. what part of the country are you located?

Pope, I'm in Houston. If you care to tow your MC to Houston and spend a weekend here, he can have it for you in a day. I dropped my MCS Friday afternoon by 4:00 and i had it back Saturday afternoon by 4:00 pm.
