I'm getting a weird metal against metal scraping sound when I first drive the car in the morning when its cold. It only happens when I turn hard or accelerate/decelerate hard. But goes away when the car warms up. It almost sounds like a pulley is making contact with a thin pc of metal. Any ideas??
Car is a 2004 with the 6 speed auto trans.

 

It could be a CV joint in one of the axles. Is it noticeable more to the left or right? It could also be the CVT complaining internally. Hopefully its just a CV joint.

 

Nope, dont really hear it worse when I turn. You would need to hear it. trying to describe the sound is hard. Imaging the sound of a fan belt turning and you lightly touched a pc of plastic to it. kinda like a "bbzzzzzztt" Thats the sound it makes.

 

Hate to say it but I have heard that noise in my CVT transmission.

 

Yeah that is my fear, only have 128K on the odometer. If the fluid is low and or very dirty, could that be making my noise? Only does it when the car is cold.
