electrical (headlight/gauges/fan) problems

I have read the forums and searched for a problem similar to mine, but did not find any solutions. I am hoping that someone can help me.

A) I have a 2005 mcs mini. Sometimes everything will be fine and everything works and will be normal. But usually not. These problems can be flaky / intermittent.

B) When not working, the same group of things will not work. If one does not work, none of them work: interior fan, headlights, gas, water, speedometer (both digital and analog), odometer (lights up but doesn't move), rear defroster, dsc, auto door locks (10 mph autolock doesn't autolock, but will lock manually w/switch), fog light, mpg indicator, possibly more.

C) When the above group does not come on, these still work (they are always ok):the clock, wipers, radio, turn signals, parking lights, the countdown til next oil change indicator (& it counts down so mileage IS being registered at some level, it just isn't indicating at the odometer-THAT is stuck at the last mileage prior to going "dead"), high beam lights (although ONLY if the stalk is being held in), "walkaway headlights" (where you pull the stalk towards you when the car is off and they stay on for 30-40 seconds so the headlights work at some level as well), radio, power windows, door lock switch.

When the above is dead (B), if the car is CRANKING at startup, the gas gauge will register the proper amount of fuel in the tank. On accessory or after letting the key go, it does not.

Sometimes the DSC, SES (svc eng soon), & flat tire lights will all come on at once and for as long as they stay on, everythng ELSE works normally.

I have been without these gauges, etc for months at a time. Sometimes the problem lasts months, sometimes days, sometimes hours, sometimes seconds. They can come back on (or go off) while driving, while idleing, or immediately after startup. I've taken it to the dealer (120 miles away) for this and similar problems on several occasions. They have tightened a wire behind the fusebox (that wasn't it. It does not act as if it is a loose wire problem. Bumps in the road, turning the items off and on manually, shaking things do not make a difference as to if they come on or not. Temperature, vibration, moisture, time of day do not seem to effect this. Nothing external can I attribute to this). The dealer replaced the dsc sensor since that light was lighting up sometimes (but so did the ses and flat tire lights along with it). Problem still exists. The car is out of warranty now.Any suggestions as to what the problem is? thank you

strange electrical problems resolved?

Cinci mini replaced the fuse box for free even though it was out of warranty ( this HAS been an ongoing problem, but they could have been stinkers about it, but instead were helpful and ate the cost). They picked it up and brought it back. The problem is gone (at least for now). We'll see what we'll see.
