Auto Transmission surges...
I've had the surging issue with my automatic 2012 Mini Cooper S since I purchased it. I'm experiencing surges (where the RPMs will spike and the car will lurch forward) both when braking gradually and when coming to a rolling stop (no braking), so I don't think the brake pad solution makes sense. I've brought this up to my dealer multiple times, but they claim that they cannot replicate the problem and that no errors pop up when the car is plugged into their computer. (Note that my body shop instantly noticed the surges, so I feel like the dealer's ignorance is BS.) Has anyone been able to find a solution to this issue? The car has about 9,000 miles on it at this point, and has always had this problem. It's noticeably worse in Sport.
I took a rep from the dealer on one test drive, but was only able to replicate minor surges, which they claimed were "normal." Not a terribly helpful answer, especially given that I pointed out that the surges are typically more severe and very noticeable. I've explained the surges to a variety of service reps at the dealership on different occasions, and the answers vary from "it's normal and a quirk of this adorable car you choose to drive (paraphrase, of course)" to "we don't know what you're talking about."
