I too got the trico and I don't like them either....

I ended up bending the blade so it would conform and now it's a little better. I would have gotten the silblades but I needed wipers badly and that's what the auto store had. They told me both were the same size and they work but I'll be sure to replace them with the correct silblades.

>>I've never heard of SilBlades, but they sound like the ticket. Are the available at auto parts stores (AutoZone, etc), or do I gotta order them from somewhere?<

You can order them from http://www.silblade.com. The website automatically gives you the correct sizes when you tell them what kind of car you have.

Silblade also sells a spray bottle of windshield treatment that they recommend using with their wipers, and I guess it works great but it's hard to tell since I haven't actually used the wipers without it...

I put my Silblades on a few days ago and have had a problem with the blades making consistent contact with the windscreen. The top 6" just does not make contact. VERY annoying. Any suggestions from the gallery (other than putting my crappy stock blades back on)???

I got the SilBlades for Xmas, and the tip of my drivers 18" wiper doesn't touch, well the last couple inches don't, so it's kind of annoying. Will it lay flat on the windscreen with time?

I also think I broke something on the boot stock wiper. I got it off, it moves kind of funny on there. Then just to check something, I put it back on, but it snapped pretty loudly and a little piece of something broke. Now I can't get it off at all, and it doesn't quite move as much as it used to. It used to have a weird kind of lateral give to it.

The rear though isn't used nearly as much so I don't have to have the SilBlade on the boot, stock still works alright until I can break the stock one back off.

Front drivers side not making contact though is pretty lame...hadn't read about it until now! Maybe it just needs time to bend.

I'll try to contact SilBlade. I know from past experience that their communication skills are pretty crappy.
But maybe this is why their blades last so long...they never make contact with the windscreen!

Not exactly sure whats wrong, but I can tell you the silblades work quite well for me. (except for the rear one, as that isn't on, I can't get it on). Maybe the install is incorrect, supposed to use one of the adapters included, and put the hook over the top of the adapter, not in the middle like I tried to do the first time.

I finally got the rear wiper blade on.The little plastic bit on the wiper broke off when removing it.Then i just snapped in the silblade wiper. YES; I had to push hard; but it did snap on.Be patient and you'll get it on.The front wipers went on easily and work beautifully. The rear one looks great[all white] but doesn;t swipe the glass as smoothly.

I got the silblades, all three, and haven't taken a close look yet but the longer one for the front seems to be too long and will hit the roof at the top of the windshieled no matter which side I put it on? Is that a problem?

Thanks,

Earl

The two wipers in the front work exactly right; in fact i switched the wipers and put the longer 19'' blade on the drivers side.It works just great. No problems. The rear blade is another matter.Stay patient and you'll get it snapped in.-good luck; jomo

No resonse from SilBlade. Driver's side blade makes little contact with windscreen. I think I'm returtning mine, unfortunately. Approach this company with caution.

Hmmm...

After just 7 months with the OEM wipers, I ordered the Ultra Silblades from Silblade.com. Ordered on Sunday, they arrived on Tuesday via UPS ground.

They fit fine, and I took them out in the rain (heavy NJ coastal-storm rain!) and they work great, too...the drivers side blade seems to keep consistent contact with the windshield, except for maybe the top 2 inches, and only when the blade is almost parallel to the A-pillar (that is, when the blade has finished its travel to the edge very left edge of the windshield). This doesn't seem to be a problem for visibility though... And although the silblade does not come with a plastic "wing" like the OEM driver's side blade, I have not experienced any 'lift' or chatter at highway speeds when the blades are in motion or not.

Since installing them, we've only had one day of rain so far that I was able to test the effectiveness of the silblades, but in that one time I can say they work great, better than the OEM blades. I'll keep ya posted if I experience any difference once it rains again... So far, I am a happy customer. And at $22 each, with a 5-year warranty against blade degradation, that comes to a little over $4 per year per blade. Not bad.

Rock on,

I use the piaa super silicone blades. I put on 2 18" blades and they work way better than stock. They are more expensive than some, but work so much better it's worth it. I put a set on my 4 runner yesterday also. If only they made them in 11 inch for my landcruiser..

I got silblades.......black/gray to go with my DS/W. Unfortuanately, the snap-in part on the arm of the rear wiper broke during installation and I had to re-order the part from Mini......install with care. I had PIAA's and the silblades are a tighter fit on the front wipers.

does anyone know of ANY vendor for chrome wiper blades? The Silblades all come in colors and carbon fiber. I'm looking for chrome.

Also, does anyone know if the rear wiper blade can be diassembled? The little hooks that hang down to grab the blade itself seem like they're snapped in, but it also feels like I'm about to break it when I try to separate them. It looks like there's some kind of clip to be wedged but i can't get it to work with needlnose pliers.

Thanks,
Kurt

My silblades are fabulous with the 19" on the driver's side and 18" on the passenger
side.........but DO NOT get the rear wiper. NOTHING, not even 'the pliers trick' would
get it into place for me and I broke two arms in the process of trying......so I had to go back to the short life stock blades. The front ones are even better than PIAA's and guaranteed for 5 years.....a good deal.

Wait, if people are putting 19" blades on the can I get 2 19" blades and put them on both driver and passenger? That way I can get the PIAA Sporza Blades on both sides. Pay a few extra bucks and get the groovy spoiler on both sides… he he he…

my rear wiper blade just stripped after almost 4 years of use yesterday in the ice storm of NYC. need to get a replacement blade.

are there 12" refills available in auto stores for it? or do I need to seek out the dealer accessory shop?

my oem ones are holding up real well thru the much windshield wiping from the wet salty roads. rear one works real well too..
but they only work flawlessly if the window/wiper blade is clean. if there's a tiny bit of ice on it. it'll make streaks which'll then look as if the wiper sucks.
but ill stick with oem for now. =]
