Windshield cracked I heard PPG is good, but where?

Windshield cracked I heard PPG is good, but where?

I asked this for my friend's mini.
He has rain sensor option.
He had a quote from dealer for $900
I heard PPG is a good replacement. But where to find it?

Any installer around the NY metro area? NY/NJ?

The dealer might be the best option because of the problems most installers have with the Mini windshield install. There are many posts about the A-Pillar covers flying off after a windshield install because the installer broke the clips and did not replace the broken clips (probably because they did not have replacement clips).
Will not the person's insurance cover the windshield replacement under the comprehensive portion of the insurance coverage, which usually has a lower deductable so it is worth doing through insurance?
The $900 at the dealer sounds about right. Also, I had to leave my Mini at the dealer overnight for the adhesive to properly cure.

look in the yellow pages for SAFELITE

I've used them many times over the last 20 years including 2 new 'shields on the 02-S (both BIG rocks)

they don't automatically use PPG but if you ask .... and I never did; was happy with what SFL brought.

My insurance sends all glass claims straight to SFL btw .... and look into changing you comp' deduct' to zero .... you might be surprized how little it cost. I dropped mine from $200 to zero for a few bucks A YEAR.

(or move to FL where state law says if you have coverage <comp'> then the company can not charge a deductable for a safety item like front glass ... .. yea baby!)

If you haven't done it yet, check out Arrow Glass. They came to my house, did the replacement; and when it rained later that day, the rain sensor didn't work. They came out the next day and replaced it again. This one worked. They used Pilkington glass, which is the equal to PPG.
