MINI Cooper S just stopped while driving

I have a 2008 Mini Cooper S with 24K miles on it; this baby has never given me any trouble at all, runs great BUT today it just stopped while I was driving. I mean it started decelerating and I pulled off the road and she wouldn't start back up. I called Mini Roadside Assistance, they were great; my Mini will spend the night at the tow operator's shop and be taken to the Mini dealership tomorrow.

Anyone here ever had a similar experience or know what might have gone wrong??

Similar problem on my 2000 Lincoln Navigator. One of the coils that was linked to the theft deterrent system went out thus killing the car. Whatever happened to the good old days when you could drive a car on less than the "provided" cylinders!

Not sure if that has anything to do with your problem but it might....perhaps some circuit that ties to the key fob went bad (fuse) and then decided that you could not drive it.

It's possible you just have a bad alternator (not providing power to the car and not charging the battery), and your battery finally drained, leaving you without electric. No electric, no spark, no ECU, car quits.

I know its broke. Like stated above could be any number of things. But you got warranty coverage so don't worry to much just be bummed cause the Mini is gone right now.

My MA just called to tell me that they found a blown fuse that controls the injectors and several other things. Fuse replaced and the car is running just fine. Damn, I need to start carrying a spare fuse?? Are you kidding?? He said that he had never experienced this before, therefore he says this is not a common occurrence. The car showed a code for the problem. Anyway I'll pick it up later and let you all know if there is any more info. Injectors controlled by a fuse. Yikes!!!

No worries! Make sure you keep an Extra couple with you as I have learned to do in case that very situation happens. The scary part is that the FUSE should not blow in a properly functioning car....there is usually something that is out of tolerance somewhere to cause the fuse to blow (doing its job )....well anyhow glad you got it fixed!!!!!!

Yes sir, you are correct, the fuse should not have blown if everything was working correctly. The MA said they are running some other test and I will want to know why the fuse blew. The car has always ran great; I 'll post what I learn and I will most definitely carry a couple spare fuses in the future.

Picked up the car; it was a 5 amp fuse. F05, they found no reason for it to be blown and said they never had this happen before.

A person on the Stock problems forum said his car just quit on him while driving on a freeway: high pressure fuel pump.

Mine was relay in fuse panel to in tank fuel pump, had to replace JBE fuse panel. Pane in the ----- for just a relay. There's a lot of information on the site about this problem. If it ends up being the HPFP they have extended the warranty to 120K miles or 10 years.
