What's up with my car?

I'm having a couple of problems with my Mini...

Does anyone have a problem with extreme heat near the gas/brake pedal?

Also, the car jerks at a very low speed right. It doesn't happen frequently but it's annoying.

I have this to a milder degree. That area does get uncomfortably hot from time to time in my car.

I don't have the footwell heat problem but I remember reading about it on this forum a year or so ago. Someone figured out that it was caused (at least on their car) by the heater core being too close to the interior panel. I don't remember whether tweaking the heater core positioning was reported to help, but I do seem to recall that someone installed a piece of insulation and said it helped a lot. I'd expect that to be under warranty on an '08 though. Maybe you can use the search feature to find the thread I am thinking of from last summer?

I have this problem and its been getting worse. Just got my car back yesterday from the dealer with a new air mass meter. It will take a few days to know if it is fixed. Its been in the shop alot for this problem in the last few months.

The hotfoot issue is well documented. It was due to a heater core part being in contact with the other side of the driver's footwell (no matter if the heater is off or on). Do a search and it'll come up. One person even used a laser thermometer to document the temp in his car (160 degrees I think!). I would think your dealer could wrap the item with insulation if you're got a problem. I haven't hear complaints about it in 08/09 models though.

Just had this done to mine. The bulletin for the issue only advises the technician to insulate the incoming coolant tube. They basically wrap the tube in black insulating material and use tie straps to hold it in place. It did almost nothing for the heat as you might expect. I think both tubes and the exposed metal portion of the heater core itself need to be insulated.
