Loud 'clunk' if 3000 rpms not reached before shifting gears...!

I have an 05' MCS that I purchased 2 months ago and have noticed that if I shift at any point before 3000 rpms I get a loud "clunk", or a shift that is anything but smooth. It is intermittent, but worse between 2nd and 3rd gear.

I have read in other posts that the Getrag transmission is a little grumpy and naturally loud, but I have not experienced this in any other car that I've driven in the past (Civic, Mustang, Corolla, etc.). Should I just except this as normal, or have it looked into?

If I take the rpms over 3000 then there is no problem. Does the car just have to be driven hard all the time? Thanks in advance for your responses.

It did not, which is why I bought the car. I may have missed it during the many test drives that I took it on, but I don't remember this sound at low rpms. I test drove the car with the windows up and down. I also test drove the car while it was raining.

I do remember the clutch being a little more stiff than the honda that I traded it in for, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I've figured out that I'm just going to have to "gun it" in order to prevent any weird noises. I suppose the car just wants to be driven and not ***** footed around with. I guess I'll be forced to drive fast all the time from here on out. No problem.

Sorry..

but that will just delay the inevitable. The thunk is because something isn't right. Ignoring that won't make it go away. But because I don't know what the root cause it, I can't say if it's going to make things worse and cost more to fix later or not....
