SOOOOOOOooooo I goto the store get some food toss it in the boot and go home. When I get home the boot won't open. I think that it is unlocking just not opening. After fiddling with the remote for a while, the car stopped locking and unlocking with the remote all together, so i tried hte key in the door and ONLY the drivers door was unlocking and locking. Next I turned the car on and tried using the dash toggle. No luck. All other toggles and electrical bits seemed to be functioning. After I turned the car off and got out, I tried the remote again and it started to work! Boot still wont open though

Try this:

Push the boot closed even though it is still 'latched' and try again. This happened to me today as well! I tried to open the boot and it was 'stuck' by the rubber weatherseal and did not completely open. The latch had 'ratcheted for a bit then gave up. I pushed down on the boot hard and tried again... bingo. I need to apply a rubber conditioner to the weatherstripping so it does not stick (I can hear it 'peel' when I open the trunk).

The electronic latch 'gives up' after several lock/unlock attempts, start the car momentarily and shut it off, this will reset it.

Hope this helps!

If Greatbar's great advice didn't work, I'd say you got one of the grocery bags stuck in the latch by not shoving it all the way in the boot. Anyway, if you are in SoCal and broke a picket line to get your groceries...God got ya!
