Missing wiring for lights?

So I was messing around with my 2005 MINI. I knew my Dad's 2007 had nice lights that lit up the ground when you open your door. Then I hear first gens had them too. So I took a look. I have the light cover and a bulb installed. The problem is no wiring, so they do nothing. Am I missing a connection, or was it an option and they just put everything but the connection?

You have lights on the bottom of the doors?

Yes they light up the ground so you can see what you are stepping into. They are supposed to turn on when your dome light and footwells come on.

It became a standard feature starting with 05 model year. No wiring in both doors? What is the build date?

I think it is 10/4, it is proving to be strange kinda, it seems like it is right when they were switching to the late 05 stuff. So far everything has been there except this wiring. I will take the door panel off when I get a chance a poke around. I bought used so somethings will always be a mystery.

Some changes in a new model year don't make it in right away. Your car also doesn't have rear fog prewiring (started with 05 model year, but only started getting included with 11/04 builds). It might be the something similar with your door lights.

VICTORIOUS! I just took my door panels off, guess what the wire, with the plug was tucked in there. My guess is the at the plant this was a new feature and mine must have been one of the first "late 2005" models and the guys assembling did not know what the wire was and just tucked it up out of the way. Anyway I plugged it into the light assembly and it works just fine now.

So how would I know if mine is pre-wired for a read fog lamp?
