I recently had the right front foglight replaced under warranty because of moisture in the lens. The left had a little moisture in it but the dealership elected not to replace it. They stated that it should evaporate with a little foglamp usage.

This was 2 weeks ago. Today I looked at the lamps and both have moisture on the inside of the lens including the unit they replaced. As I understand it there are two bulbs in the housing. The running light and the foglight. Is this normal or are these housings defective? Does anyone else have this problem. I would think that the bulbs are replacable therefore a seal utilized to gain access and to prevent moistue intrusion.

I don't want to make a stink with the dealership if this is just some design feature of the lights. (I don't know how that can be it sounds like a real opportunity for rust etc.)

I have had foglights on many other of my other vehicles and never noticed moisture in the housing anywhere.

Any experiences out there that I can draw from? The car is my wifes, MCS 2009.

i also had moisture in one of my Fog lights they replaced it under warranty because they had not been Sealed correctly so i would take it back again

 

I have had three fog lights replaced and the third one fogged up in about one week.

I took my shop vac to it. I removed both bulbs and put suction on the bottom bulb hole for about five minutes with the vacuum. This dried up the moisture.

You need to make sure the connector is disconnected from the bottom bulb before replacing it or it will not seat correctly.

DO NOT TOUCH THE BOTTOM BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS. THIS WILL DESTROY THE BULB ONCE IT HEATS UP AGAIN.

So far so good. No more fogged lamp!

 

I had both fog lights replaced on my wife's car. So far so good. My car has not exhibited the same phenomena thus far.

I'm hoping it does not. If it does it will be at the dealer postehaste.

Hmm, glad I saw this thread, I thought I had spastically washed my car several weeks ago and got moisture in the housing.

I'll have to check it out with the vac technique. Thanks!

 

If your car is still under factory warranty I would have the light replaced.

 

I have had three replace. One fogged up within a couple of weeks of being replaced. I think it might have to do with the actual seal around the base of the bulb and not the light. I made sure it seated properly (they don't go on well with the wire connected) and no problems since.
