Anyone used a BMW GT1 scanner?

I am having issues with my ABS, DCS and Tire Inflation lights all coming on. I want to narrow the problem down to whether its a wheel speed sensor or the steering wheel angle sensor or something else and I don't want to take it to a dealer (2hrs away). I came across the BMW GT1http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-d...motiveQ5fTools which appears to be the same devise that BMW/MINI uses to diagnose their problems. Has anyone used this and is it any good?

it looks like that auction in only for a DK head plus the cables and software to emulate the GT1 tester, so I think you would also have to buy the IBM T30 laptop to run the software. If it is legit it looks pretty cool though.

I do have a IBM T30 but there are kits that include the T30. Still, anyone used the GT1?

A thousand bucks isn't bad for what's in the auction...considering the rest of the setup is probably pushing 30 thousand.

A full GT1 setup only costs a little over 3k. (cables, yellow convertor box, software, etc) I was going to get a setup, so I contacted the dealer in the US about it (located in Santa Monica, CA) and found out it would cost approx 3k. So I just stuck with a nice OBDII reader

i've used a GT1, but like I said that auction in not for an actual GT1 tester. Do you have a specific question other then if anyone has used a GT1 ?

Yeah, I use one every day, they are now being replaced by ISIS. And yes, it is good, but you could probably scan the codes using a good aftermarket scanner, usually it's a left front wheel speed sensor, occasionally the steering angle sensor gets out of calibration and will through a fault, generally after an impact that throws out your front toe.

Your best bet may be just to go to the dealer and have them diagnose it, then you can fix it yourself. Unless the LEW needs to be calibrated, then you'll need a GT1.

What are some good aftermarket readers that would read BMW's codes?

Check the AutoEnginuity web site or do a search for CarSoft. Both are laptop based.
