Passenger auto-up

Yesterday I opened my passenger window for the first time in over a month and the auto up seems to have stopped working. Anything I can try before calling the dealer?

Reseting often cures the problem. The computer "Thinks" your door is opened. With the door open, auto down works but not auto-up.

I have had multiple problems with the windows "memory" My local dealer has said that they don't know why the car loses the window position memory, but MINI USA is working on a cure for this. Trying rolling your window down, and hold the switch down for the count of ten, then up and hold the switch for the count of ten....this may reset it. If this does not work, you'll need to have the window reintialized by the dealer. MINI USA tech has advised R55/R56 owners to roll the windows up and down at least once daily---this helps them retain their memory. I don't feel we should need to do this, but it does seem to prevent the memory problems related to the R55/R56 windows.

Do the R56's have auto-up? In the R53, we have to buy Ian's auto-up or (oops, can't remember the other one).

I just discovered mine wasn't working on Tuesday. In fact, it had come down a bit when I parked it. I didn't realize it at the time, and I ended up with a dusting of snow on the passenger seat.

There is a button located on the driver side of the engine compartment. I pressed it, wondering what the heck it was, but wallah! My driver side window went up automatically again! yay!

They have released a bulletin on this issue, it requires updating the software, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Usually reinitializing and resetting the window gets it to work, but occasionally once you get it to stop anti trapping, it'll not have the auto up feature. Then you have to mess with it some more, definitely take it to the dealer.
