For those of you who may need repairs, you should know that car manufacturers are required by federal law (pursuant of the Clean Air Act) to warranty certain parts related to the emissions process. In summary, almost any part that may affect the emissions of your Mini is covered for 2 years/24K miles. In addition, certain systems, including the ECU (DME), catalytic converter, and diagnostic system are covered for 8 years/80K miles. Also, there are limitations and exceptions that may apply. Of course, most repairs that fall within the 2 year/20K miles will be covered by the standard bumber-to-bumper warranty, and your dealer will be all to happy to make the repair. However, if you are out of your standard warranty and your dealer tries to stick you with a large bill to replace the computer or the cat, do yourself a favor and look into the emissions warranty. It saved me more than $2K.

No problem with Moritz MINI in Arlington, Tx. They replaced the exhaust / cat on my 2003 S with 60K miles under warranty.
