Wheel rub in hard right turns
Wheel rub in hard right turns
Stock wheels, stock tire size.
I just recently switched to stud-less snow tires, but they're the same size as the stock tires.
In hard right turns(parking lots), My passenger side tire rubs on the fender lining.
Anyone have any similar issues like this?
I'm obviously not too concerned, but stock tire sizes shouldn't be rubbing...

They're still the same size as factory though, 195-50-16... I stuck with that specifically because I wanted to be able to fit snow cables if I needed to. I found a set that will fit with factory tire sizes.
I dunno, maybe the tread is thicker on the snows?
And it doesn't happen on hard lefts, only hard rights.

Yes, the snow tire pattern on that particular brand is most probably the problem.

I'm not too concerned, it only happens when I'm in parking lots and whatnot, but if it's something that can be changed, I'll be heading to the dealer too.
I've got Dunlop Wintersport 3D's.
Sounds like it must be the tread pattern at the edges. Seems like they might not round as much as the all-seasons at the edges, causing a slight rubbing.
"Yep, it rubs. Nope those are not OEM tires. Can't help you."
lol...
is there really that much of a difference? it's not like we're using absurdly sized wheels, they're factory size... had they offered a snow tire, I would have gotten one.

Sorry for dredging up an old old thread, but I believe I'm experiencing this issue on my car as well. I've had 16" wheels and Blizzak WS70 snow tires in the stock 195/50R16 installed all winter, and noticed yesterday that when making a hard right turn (like cut the wheel at 35 hard) I'm hearing some rubbing. I took a peek in the wheel well, and see evidence of the tire touching the furry plastic stuff inside the wheel well. Or so it seems at least, I see a distinct roughed up area in the location that would be likely to see this in there. It's not on the passenger side though, but the driver's side.
Is this a common issue with floppy snow tires on small wheels on these cars?
