MINI Cooper CVT Help! PLEASE

Hey guys/gals,

Well i was driving home tonight/morning from my gf's and all the sudden this weird noise came from my engine bay.
Well all that said basically what that noise must of been was something to do with my CVT transmission.

My car was reving up like crazy while i had my foot on the gas but the car wasn't going anywhere. It just wont go into gear.

Doesn't matter what gear i put it in it will not move.

Does anyone know what might have happened?

Any help would be great, btw it's 2:35am and i just got home from pushing my car home. This all started @ 1:30am and it's not fun pushing a car in the slushie snow.

Incase your wondering i drive a 2003 Mini Cooper 6 Speed CVT (auto)

Update:
I went to try to see if my car would go into gear today and nothing. If i don't have the e-brake up the car will roll back like if it was in nuteral.

So does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be?

Thanks again.

Sandro

Yes, it sounds like your CVT has gone out - I say it like that because you cannot repair them, all you can do is replace it, and be prepared for a huge bill. People on this forum have reported costs anywhere from $5k to $9K.........

Have it towed to the dealer or your favorite shop and get ready for the bad news.......sorry........

Yup, thanks guys

Well i was thinking it might be a broke axel or something along the lines of that since it wont even catch "P" park mode.
Even if i put it in park it's like if it was in nutural. Waiting to get a chance to tow it to a shop here in Ottawa, Ontario and we what it actually is :(

So far, no one has been able to find someone willing to do it. They just replace the entire transmission at a really high cost ($5-9k is what we've been hearing around here).

There was some discussion that the CVTs in Hondas were being repaired...since you're not under warranty, I'd recommend calling around to every transmission place and Euro place you have locally and see what they say. If you could find someone to repair and not replace I think you'd be the first we've heard of.

Also, another solution has been to go to the dealer and throw a gigantic fit. They are aware of what ticking time bombs the CVTs are, and in some cases have been willing to split the cost of repair or do it at cost if so motivated.

Well i'm hoping it might be an axel, i called the garage where i take my Mini here in Ottawa and the guy said it sounds like it could be a broke axel since i didn't any fuild leaking. So i'm hoping thats all it is. Other wise buying a Honda for now insted of fixing the Mini.
