My brides 05 Cooper w/46,000 miles lost its power steering a few days ago, and intermittedly comes and goes now. A call to Patrick Mini in Schaumburg, Illinois got us an appointment after the new year. Friday to be exact. The car is one month out of warranty, and the Service Dept. "might" do something warranty wise. They do need to look at the car first, of course. I have seen numerous threads concerning this issue and read every scenerio from, "no problem. We will take care of it." To "Sorry... your warranty expired. It will be $1056.48, Oh, and you need a new whatever valve, too." I will re-thread after our dealer experience and let everyone know how it turns out.

 

Just be real nice and offer them 5's on there customer survey. That's the best you can do. Hopefully you can get it warrantied.

 

The bride brought in the coop for the power steering motor and after a bit of haggling, Patrick of Schaumburg gets a high five. They comped the part, and only charged labor. A very professional approach. The misses is very happy, and the dealer gets high marks. Thanks, Patrick.
