Heat shield mats for the hood.

Several companies produce adhesive backed mats that serve to protect composite body panels from radiant heat emanating from turbos, exhaust manifolds etc. One of them withstands radiant temperatures in excess of 2000F (Thermo-Tec).

The cost of these mats is minimal compared to the various turbo wraps and turbo shields and the question is if anybody has used them and what the results were.

I put them under my hood and it works great. I cut an opening for the scoop too and you can pictures on this thread (Page 3): https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-resolved.html

Benibiker, thank you for the response and kudos for your ingenuity and the neat installation.

My mat was ordered a few days ago and the tape is a good idea that I may follow up on.

Some people will buy expensive products (WMW turbo heat shield, M7 heat shield etc.) and pontificate about their benefits when the better solution costs just a few dollars. I had found that thread when I did a search but I didn't survive page 2.

Thanks Ian, it is an inexpensive way to prevent possible scoop warpage. Going on 3,000 miles with the heat blanket and no problem with the blanket or the scoop.
