Diesel sound only at idle when at a stop light for a good amount of time. Doesn't always happen so I know the dealer will not be able to "duplicate the issue".

I'm thinking the Dinan software and/or one of the sensors is causing the ignition timing to be off.

Clutch in or out? May be throw out bearing noise. Take out of gear and let idle with clutch out and see if you hear it from the outside.

 

Clutch out in N. Tried both methods

It was about 38 outside and the car started fine with zero noise. After some time it warmed up and the "diesel" sound started. I tracked it down to the top passanger side of the motor. With higher RPM the noise is still there and once back at idle its still present.

Drove to the store with no issues. Parked and listen for noise - none. Drove home no issues. Parked in the garage and wanted to try and isolate the sound with a long piece of wood but - no diesel sound. ---- Gotta love it when problems happen some times but not all. Letting motor cool off to try the process all over.

 

The only time I had a sound like that was after a catastrophic oil leak. Check your oil level, it might be low causing lifter noise.

 

Oil level was about 1/2 quart low but was quickly topped off.
