Please recommend good brake pads
Please recommend good brake pads
Hi,
I got the PREMIUM DIMPLED & SLOTTED rotors from brakeperformance.com, with the "free" (actually $20) ceramic brake pads. I replace the original rotors and pads with the new ones but the brakes sucks now. I took the car to the dealership to check the brakes. They did a brake fluid flush but it didn't improve. They assured me everything is OK with the brakes, but the pads are causing the problem. I feel like the brake pedal is almost running to the bottom if I press it hard. I know that ceramic pads are not the best, but never tought it will be so bad. I brake hard and it does not even trigger the ABS. I already "bedded" the brakes. First thing I am going to check is if the pads are glazed, but it not, I want to get a good set of brake pads. Please give me some advice if I have to go this route, what and where to buy.
Thanks

Don't feel bad I see this all the time. I test drive a customer's car and tell them their brakes suck and they say just put new pads on, then I ask where they got them and it's always some great deal, but they suck.
I'd say you got a few options.
1 use stock pads, they have great bite
2 Use EBC pads, Red, or green. Will have much better bite, but the greens initially don't bite like the reds
3 Go with Carbotech bobcat pads. Good, bite less dust, but more pricey than the EBC's.
Have them all in stock http://www.waymotorworks.com/home.php?cat=331

I've been using the EBC Greens for about 20K miles with no real problems. Very little dust, no squeal, easy on rotors but, do give up some after 6-10 track day laps. For street applications I'd suggest the EBC Greens or Hawk HPS...never used the HPS but have talked with many who have and they seem to like them.
