Gages and lights going berzerk

Ok here goes...So I have a 2004 mc with 80,000mi. I got a check engine light on about 2,000 miles ago. So I got a code reader and plugged it in and found a 2097 code...Thought to be a post cat o2 sensor out. Replaced the o2 sensor with a bosch from auto zone, then used the code reader to reset. I know, big mistake. My gas gage has been acting up intermittenly for about 500 miles too. So I drove the car about 4 miles then stopped at the cleaners (turned it off). Drove another 2 miles to the bank and went inside. When I came back out to start it up, the gages, lights, windows, radio, door locks...everything went berzerk. when i turned the key to start, everything went dark then off, and a clicking noise came from the obd plug. Any suggestions? Any help would be deeply appreciated. As usual I need this fixed ASAP! Feel free to call me too. I would even consider a "reward" for whoever can help me get it back running. Most likely the computer that controls your ABS is bad... forgot what it's called. ABS speed sensor or something. IIRC all newer BMW cars have this issue at some point or another.

I think your in the wrong section though... this is the R56 section.
