Whoops, I had originally posted this in the wrong place since I need help on an "under the bonnet" issue. I picked up my new MC last Thursday. While on a long drive I showed a friend the engine and noticed a slight oily film on the top of the engine making the black parts sort of glimmer. I could not find anything lose causing spraying although it did seem a bit heavier on the right front side. There was very slight pooling in crevices as well. I wiped it down and checked again after about 100 miles and I don't think there was any additional. Yes, I will call the dealer but they are about a 3 1/2 hour drive away so I am hoping some may have an idea what the cause might be. It had less than 600 miles on it when I noticed this. Thanks!

 

could be some sort of rust retardent for the cars trip across the pond.

Don't worry about reposting this thread. We have moderators on MCO that will look through the topics and move threads to the right area from time to time. If a thread could fit under more than one area it might stay. You had posted in MINI Talk so that wasn't too bad. I thought about giving a hint to a moderator to move it but didn't.
