Seat Belt Warning Chime Problem

Has anyone experienced a constant seat belt warning chime - even when your belts are fastened? My wife had a loooooong ride home with the chime going. The car is an '07 MC auto with less than 13k miles.

Remove what was resting in the passenger seat and the gong will go away. You can tell that the pass. seat is triggered by looking at the air-bag light to the left of the instrument panel above the rear-view mirror.

^ yep, same thing as suggested above. I have to put my purse on the floor sometimes because it can get reaaaly heavy to where MINI thinks there's a passenger in the front seat..haha (I have a big purse...like...briefcase size...)

Thanks - I thought of that but it's the same purse she's carried for a while. Hmm, maybe she's got a gold bar or two she hasn't mentioned yet

My dog set chime off, so I buckled the belt. Then she started chewing through it. Do you think that's covered under warranty?

The dealer told me that most people keep the passenger seat belt clicked - which told me this is an ongoing problem. I think the seat belt sensor is way too sensitive. I've only had my car for 2 weeks and the chime keeps going off at random times if anything is in the seat.

This happened to me today and I had my purse, plus a grocery bag on the passenger seat that was quite heavy, it was quite annoying so glad I found this thread.

Seat Belt Gong Loudness

Can you soften the sound or lower the volume? I don't mind th reminder, but the loudness is annoying.

Mine never chimes with packages in seat without fastening seat belt.

If you do fasten belt to hold a package, then the light "Airbag off" is seen.

Recently had a short drive with a 108# passenger and seat belt could not be used
(for good reason) and the chime gave up and remained silent after driving two blocks.

Volume of warning chimes can be set through the Audio Menu.
