Hi all!

My name is Christian, I'm from Austria and my wife and me we are happy owners of a Mini Cooper R56.

It is my first post and I've to do that at the problem forum

What's my problem ...
Before two days and today I heard a strange noise when I was changing gears from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th and downwards again. 5th and 6th gear weren't possible in the city.
Driver's window was down, aircondition and radio were turned off.
I dont't think that it is a problem of the gear box.

The noise appears about a half second after declutch and it sounds like a hauling disc.

Has anyone an idea what this noise could be?

I've some news.

Today I found out that the noise also appears when I rev the engine.
I revved it up a little bit after parking ... and when the rpm come down then I heard this noise.

So, it seems that this noise comes out of the motor compartment and appears at a specific rpm!?

 

Problem found ... it's the center muffler which makes the noise at about 2000rpm.
Will be changed next wednesday and the noise should be eliminated.
