Tire / Rim SqueeeeeeeK
Tire / Rim SqueeeeeeeK
I have Good Year Runflats on 17" S lites. 50% tread left. Rims in excellent cond. no curb rash, all tires at 35 psi., Normal wear on all tires, happens when tires are cold or hot.
I noticed a rubbery sqeeeking noise from one tire/rim during slow speeds even when moving around inside garage.....sort of like wet sneakers on a super clean store floor...
Almost like where ever the tire tread meets the road, the bead directly opposite is moving or rubbing up against the rims edge.
Is that possible

All the time
1st car I ever owned with runflats, was hoping that was it. Could an area of a side wall in a tire be separated ?
I thought the door jam sticker calls for 38 PSI?
Yes
[quote=Yo'sDad;2412532]Sounds like layer separation or belt separation. This is common with very old tires, with the windows down and just tooling through your neighborhood, they sound like squeeky leather... is that the noise.

Yes, very much like that.
Thanks.
Remember the episode of Seindfeld where George Castanza bought a new suit for work, and his thighs rubbed together when he walked ???? Sort of like that
and just as irritating too.
Me and one of the twins took my folks around Cape Cod yesterday afternoon. First thing Dad said as we began to drive down his quiet street was: "What's that rubbing like noise...."

And you have isolated it to just one tire????
Have you moved it to a dif corner? And the noise followed the tire?
How old is it?
How much tread left.
If it is only one tire, I'd consider a replacement before the belts separate.
