First Service on Mini coming due

in about 2,000 miles. so i'm thinking, what all do I need to get done, assuming the car doesn't tell me something specific?

is it necessary to go to the dealer?

will my warranty be void if I don't go to the dealer at any time while it's under warranty?

how often do you rotate the tires?

Thanks MM

Do it at the dealer so they can setback the service indicator. You get it for free. They'll make you pay to rotate the tires or alignments. Ask them to replace the wiper blades and the cabin filter (say they streak and it smells!). Otherwise they may just change the oil/filter and inspect. I would rotate the tires and not do an alignment unless the tire wear is uneven side to side (the fronts wear out faster).

Thanks BigNewt. I don't know what I was thinking - wasn't I guess - I called the dealer and she told me free for 3 years or whatever miles. except tire rotation. My wipers DO streak BTW. They are brand new and streak and squeek, so wouldn't be a lie. What is the cabin filter? you mean air filter? where the heck is that thing anyway. I tried to check and see if it was dirty and couldn't for the life of me find it in the engine.

Not sure how good a set of new MINI wiper blades is, but I bought a set of Silblade wipers for my current car and they're great. Instead of normal rubber they're silicone (like those squeegees) and they do a great job. Combined with some Rain-X on the windshield and riding in the rain is no longer a pain.

these current blades I speak of are not the originals. the originals were great, but didn't seem to last very long. these were from Walmart, can't remember the brand but they weren't the cheap ones. thanks for the hint. at least for now I can add some Rain X until I get new ones. MM
