SES Code P2404
Possibilities:
1. did you run low on fuel before filling, or not tighten the gas cap? if yes it may reset after more miles.
2. in your right rear wheel well(2002-2004) you have a fuel system breather hose and evaporative charcoal canister, and a leak sensor. You may have a vapor leak or a bad sensor.. On 2005-2006 this is under right side of vehicle.

There is also a vacuum pump under the right rear well -part of the evaporative emissions system. If the system isn't holding vacuum, it can pop a number of codes in that range.
What year/model is your MINI?

I should have listed make/model to begin with - I have a 2003 MCS. I like the sound of a gas cap issue and hope that is all it is, but now I have an idea of the other possibilities and what to look for.
Thanks guys.

Hey guys, same thing is happening with my 2005 MCS. I had the gas cap replaced, but the light came back on. How do i look for the sensors you guys are referring to here? Also, right after this happened my alternator gave up (I think), still getting that looked at.
Finally, if I just wipe off the error code, does it damage anything in the car?
