Lift-off or launch position!

Under hard acceleration, my 06 MCS feels like it's "lifting-off" the ground. So, what part(s) can be added (or replaced) to prevent this from happening?
Also, what exactly is this? Thanks for your input to a newbie.

You must be accidentally hitting the 'anti-gravity discriminator'. It is one of those pedal looking things down on the floor in front of the driver's seat... the right one I think. If you push the middle one all that feeling of launching into space will go away. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Add more load to the front? Seriously, I think this is physics more than anything. If your launching hard and fast, that's what it's going to HAVE to feel like. Unless you lower the front end of your car or throw dead weight in the front.

Yeah! Push reall hard on the middle one, and it will feel like you're trying to dig a hole in the ground.
On a more serious note, maybe some upgrades to the rear suspension system might help keep the nose down, physics being what it is. Many great posts on this, give it a search.

It's physics. Your front end will always rise up when you accellerate. It's one of the flaws of FWD - your wheels lose traction easily on launches. Try getting stiffer suspension, drop the car on some coils... stuff like that.

Take the wings off the muffler bearing. That should help lower the lift drag.

Now if you get used to the feeling and want to take it to a new level I would suggest this kit.

Buy an SUV, or understand that feeling you are getting is the adrenaline waking up in your bloodstream after years of dormancy...

5mm spacers, lowering springs, front splitter... 1 Bad S...

Word is (please, don't tell anyone!) that kalecoauto is working feverishly to develop Asphalt Magnets. Attach two or three under the front bumper (depending on horsepower) and there ya go. Soon to be available: Rear Wheel Drive versions for traction enhancement.

What you're touching on is the amount of "anti-squat" built into the suspension. Suspension designers will use this to limit the amount of movement and weight transfer to the rear wheels during acceleration. There's also "anti-dive", which is a quality built in to limit suspension movement and weight transfer to the front wheels.

It's a balancing act to get all the things one desires out of a suspension design. Often times incorporating anti-dive and/or anti-squat will upset the dynamic of other more desirable qualities. I don't know how often or how much it is used in road cars.

Stiffer springs and such will make the suspension stiffer, thereby reducing the movement, the "lifting" under acceleration. Personally, I find the stock suspension to be perfectly adequate for spirited road driving. A little body movement is helpful from the standpoint of me, the driver, knowing what the car is doing and judging its limits before crossing them. Stiffer springs and sway bars will allow the car to be driven faster through the twisties, but it usually also means that it will lose that extra grip faster at that higher speed.

But I digress, enjoy the car, don’t let a little squat ruin it for you.

-Will

Think about a set of TSW Springs and Engine Damper
