Car is having issues!

I jumped in my car, threw my 2 year old son in the back to rush to the hospital as my wife was giving birth to child #2.

The car would not start, when I turned the engine over I heard a loud clunk then nothing. All the lights came on etc but it wouldn't turn over. Dead...

Then finally after a dozen attempts the car starts but as the car turns over very loud gear clashing nosies come from the gear box/engine.
Then when the car starts it is splutering and idling like it is possessed!!!

The car has not thrown any codes....

Needless to say I was not impressed and after making alternate arrangements got to the hospital just as the baby was been delivered.
Another healthy boy....very happy

But what could be wrong with the car?

Any suggestions?

I don't know wether I should risk driving it to the shop or just get it towed?

I would call the dealership.. explain what happened and go from there. I don't think I would drive it either.
Congratulations on your new baby boy!
