Thank you.Oh I definitely want to get another MCS to replace this one.

Yesterday I stopped by Vista MINI to let them know about MINI USA buying back my '08 MCS and what to do next but the Sales Manager and my MA were both off on Friday.I should have a better idea some time next week.

JCR1960, can you point me in the direction of the thread that addresses your issues? I know I've seen it but my brain is too full of threads to remember where yours is. That said, good work!

MJB, I hear you about the 2 feet of snow...if the roads are plowed, stay home or get that sled and dog team harnessed up!

Otra I certainly can not believe all the snow we are getting, it is like a winter wonderland outside this morning. My current MINI is covered in snow, I had to borrow a pair of my son's boots to take Jorge out. My husband said we have never gotten snow of this accumulation this early. I think Holiday Valley in Ellicottville is open or will be shortly, that is a first. We are hoping for a snow day tomorrow with school, not sure because now they are calling for freezing rain and sleet which will definitely call for tricky travel.

We live like 70 miles south of Buffalo so we are not directly in the snow belt area but we still get our fair share of lake effect. The area around Franklinville and Ellicottville seems to usually get more but there are times when we get more than them so you never know for sure. I have a feeling we are in for a rough winter good thing we have a Dodge Durango to get through the snow.

That is because I forgot to hit the brakes so they all scattered

Thank you.

This isn't the full list of problems on my '08 MCSa but the reason for the buy back from MINI USA.

I hope that helps some.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL

I drove my MINI lastnight and this is no exaggeration I could tell the difference in how this one handles versus my other MINI and this one by far is definitely much better.

No problems with Gear Icon showing up. Still solid at almost 7K miles!

Happy turkey day to all!

The shifter interlock on the automatics is a widely known problem to BMW/MINI. My Clubman did this repeatedly for 2 months after I picked it up. The dealer replaced the entire shift linkage assembly, including the interlock mechanism, which was the problem. No problems since. If you have this problem, insist on having the interlock solenoid and shift assembly replaced. MINI USA is well aware of this problem.

I think there was more than that with mine because even after they replaced the shifter interlock mechanism in my MINI it still showed the amber gear icon. I think that is why they replaced my MINI with a 2009.

Hey fellow Week 13'er (ya think it had anything to do with the week )! I just caught up with this thread and I'm sorry to hear what happened with your original, but happy that they put you in an '09!

However, we're still missing a small piece of critical info here...did you go with the checkerboard again ??!?!??

Hello Drew, I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the week 13 or what

yes I went with the checkerboard it is identical to my 2008 just a 2009 with Dynamic Stability Control with no extra charge. The only thing we had to pay for was title and registration which was $167

Very nice MJB . DSC became standard equipment with MY09 going forward, so good for you. You went through a lot but hopefully having a brand new '09 with 0 miles on the odometer, DSC and a fresh new start will make up for all of the stuff you went through previously

The thing was after it was in for service back in August and we thought it was fixed at that point because they replaced the shifter mechanism. Then the darn light came on again and I had just about enough at that point on top of that happening a week before all this happened with my car my golden retriever unexpectedly passed away, so I truly was not in any shape to deal with a broken down car on top of losing my dog.

We have a new puppy by the way it is a golden retriever and I purchased him from the same breeder as I bought my first one from they both share the same grandfather so they are related which is cool but let me tell you I forgot all about puppy hood

Something tells me the puppy won't get any road time in the Coop until he is properly house trained

So far, so good though. You know what they say about lightning hitting twice - I have a good feeling you'll be happily motoring in your 09 for the long term. And it's always good to hear that there are dealers out there that still treat problems the proper way.

I actually had him in my 2008 MINI but he hasn't been in the 2009 yet. I am waiting for either the weather to cooperate or December 15th (vet shot time) whichever comes first.

I hope you are right I think this one will not cause me any problems, unlike my new puppy but I certainly do love him.

yes its a problem and have replaced a few of them. the bulletin states to update the car then replace the interlock. update never works but replacing the interlock does.
