Alignment after clutch & flywheel change?

I brought my 05 MCS to the dealer to replace my clutch and flywheel due to the deaded noise that many people are also getting. I realize that they would have to drop the front subframe, but my SA said that an alignment is not necessary afterwards. Is this true?

I'm thinking of bring the car for an alignment check soon after...

The subframe has special line up slots to keep it all straight! should be okay!

I think that the front subframe has no adjustability in its holes, so it can only go on one way. As long as they dont mess with the tie rod - spinning them around or something, an alignment wouldn't be needed. I did not have an alignment done after my clutch was replaced, the car still drives straight.

I just finished a clutch swap on my own and decided for my peace of mind i should get it aligned, the toe angles ended up being way off after the subframe was dropped.

i was going to say that it is always a good idea to get an alignment after messing with any suspension stuff. and you have to take a lot out to get a trans out.

it's not neccessary. when I had my steering rack replaced, which required a subframe drop, they 4-wheel aligned the car, but when they replaced my flywheel and clutch, which also required a subframe drop, they did not. It's because the F and C replacement does not affect alignment, but since the steering rack replacement was integral to front end and suspension performance, they did. Or something like that.

I took my car in for a 4 wheel alignment a month after my flywheel and clutch replacement and adjustment was minimal, if any.

MAN these dual mass flywheel problems are really mounting up, both for R53 and R56!!

Hmm...a mix of opinions then..perfect!

I suppose I will take my car in for a quick alignment check for the peace of mind, and because I don't really trust the techs and their intention to keep my alignment in check when they do the work. I guess I can also take this chance to set up my car for some track work in a few weeks! Thanks guys, will let you know if my alignment was changed.

Front camber and caster adjustments are not possible on R50 R52 R53. When the subframe is removed, the alignment is not altered. You just simply remove the outer tie rod from the knuckle with the steering wheel locked

This only means that your toe was way off before you started

Just an update: Since I got the car back I haven't taken it to an alignment yet because it drives straight and fine. While they were replacing my clutch and flywheel, they noticed a leak at the transmission input shaft area so I'll be going in again for that soon. So even if I were to do an alignment, I'll do that after. Thanks for all the help guys!

Damn, the trans was already out, and needed 3 minutes more work done and it would've been finished and they put it back together without the seal.....

not necessary

Kevin. You must of had alignment issue before they did clutch work.

Listen I do a couple of clutches a month. Never I had 1 customer concern of alignment being off. We dont mess with the tie rods. Camber is fixed.

You probably had uneven tire wear or a radial pull. But never ever
Do I have to align these cars.
after subframe dropped
