lower end block for S and non S

does anyone know if the lower end block is the same for a S and non S? I have an 2006 S and a blown motor that mini will not cover due to modifications, so im looking to replace the block, dealer wants 7000 to do it and at least it will be warrantied again, looking for other options, any advice?

That sucks you blew your engine.

Oil starvation at high rpm is my guess, that is probably the easiest way to do it.

i believe my problems happened due to running lean, i had 16% sc pulley, 2% m7 crank pulley, m7 intercooler, denso cold plugs, CAI, header, exaust, but never upgraded the injectors, (i now have 380cc JCW injectors) my bet is the car was running lean, im trying to find a used motor and put a rmw head on it, really didnt want to spend the 7G's at the dealer although they would warranty the motor again if they did it. If anyone has any advice please let me know.

Brain was selling one...

just the ticket for you. Stock crate moter, just north of $3k. Search around in the For Sale section. I think his NAM name is Brian1.0. Also Give Jan a call about parts for a rebuild, or some of the local Mini shops (DMH Motorsports is in your neck or the woods). Don't expect a warranty to hold if you're modding the engine a lot. So I'd go aftermarket to rebuild what you have (if it's serviceable) or a crate motor. There are a couple places that give nam discounts (PM Gnatster) or Classic Auto Campus.

And BTW... The block is the same, but the crank, con-rods and pistons aren't. Also the Cooper block has plugs where the S oil squirters go.
