Leaking Strut?

My '05 MCSC with 48K was losing it's power steering and after reading this forum, I figured that the pump was probably going out. I took it in, since I have 2K miles remaining on the warranty. It was repaired with no problems. Kudos to the dealer.

However, they mentioned that the front strut was leaking and that I needed to replace it. They offered to do it for a small fee: 4 struts for $340, push struts for $216, labor for $550, and then the alignment for $200, for a grand total of $1306.

Now, I have noticed the suspension being "softer" than it used to be and the car does bounce a bit when I hit rough road. I imagine that is due to to the leaking strut?

My questions are: Is that a fair price? Should I look elsewhere? What are the dangers of delaying this repair? Is this a good time to upgrade the suspension? If so, to what and for how much?

Thanks.
