Hi mileage sub-forum

I'm in favor and probably could contribute as my '04 has 130K on her. I love her to death but she has not been trouble free.

'03 Cooper w/93k and counting.... nothing major, just normal maintenance. The only 'big ticket' repair was a set of rear calipers in addition to the pads.

New Thread

I'm for a "High Milage" thread. Being that my MINI is planned to be the last car I own (outside of an additional Clubman in the future), I wanted to add my voice to those wanting the thread. At only 40,487 miles, Cassie is still in her infantcy and has had no (knocks on wood) problems. I think the key is doing preventative maintenance.

Let's keep 'em motoring!

148K miles on an '03 Cooper here. I'd monitor a high mileage forum for sure.

My repairs: O2 sensor, window switch, oil shaft seal...and bringing it in next week because power steering pump sounds funny.

I'd check out that forum normally as well. I've got 102k on my 04 MCS.

Not a single repair outside the windshield and trim that flew off days later. I've replaced the fluids, plugs and pads, the rotors are showing a bit of wear and the clutch still feels good. I have a feeling my day of mini destruction is coming.

Not only has it been incredibly fun to drive its been worry-free as well. Easily the best car I've owned.

Great idea. I need to find out what I should be looking for and there's no one I can ask.

I just posted a question concerning my 136K 04MCS, and looked for something like a high mileage topic before posting here. Another vote for such a forum.

added a couple of more threads to the index on Post 1 of this thread...

the number of folks interested in high mileage appears to be growing..

may I move the original question again? might we consider a subforum within the 1st Gen section for these threads?

cheers,

charlie

Soooo, is it a subforum yet or not?? Add my vote to those that say it should be. My 2005 Cooper with CVT (delivered July 2005) just turned 120K this week. Stuff so far:

Rear wiper assembly at 21K-warranty
Hatch hinges replaced at 95K-warranty!! Rusted onto the pin and broke!!
Replace left rear lower control arm and tire-hit pothole-$500.00 or so at Classsic MINI
CVT oil cooler-repaired at 112K-did myself-minimal cost
Power steering electric pump at 116K did myself-about $900 in parts (included pump, wiring harness from battery to pump, battery, pump cooling fan, hose from reservoir to pump, odds-n-ends)
Cracked windshield-needs to be done

Opus' favorite-aka-Monster MINI was out of commission for ten weeks while I replaced power steering pump, and it was sooo great to be driving again, piling up the miles. I sell industrial machinery so I put on 45K or so a year, and I have other vehicles to drive when I don't want to smile TOO MUCH!

High Mileage 1st Gent MCS and MC Thread Collection

again I ask our wise and wonderful Forum operators (overworked and underpayed)

would it make sense to create a high mileage subforum onder the 1st gen section?

thanks!

Add me to the petition! My 2003 MC just turned 100,000 last week. The only repair was for a cracked upper strut mount.

My 05 is getting ready to turn 100,000 & I am getting nervous about repairs.

So far the only thing done (besides normal maintence) was a snapped cable in the top was repaired about 1 month ago.

+1 for a subforum
